About the Role

The Event Coordinator will provide essential support in planning and executing CreativeHub 1352’s community programs and events, including the Lakeview Farmers' & Artisan Market, Summer Arts Mississauga, FibreArts Festival, and Lakeshore Art Trail. The Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director, Director of Programs, Event Managers, Program & Event Coordinators, and volunteers to ensure successful program delivery.
This role offers meaningful hands-on experience in event management while fostering connections within the arts, culture, and environmental sectors. Youth will gain mentorship, develop critical workplace skills, and contribute to initiatives that reflect Mississauga-Lakeshore’s priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Event Coordination:

    • Assist in planning and executing key programs, including Lakeview Farmers' & Artisan Market, Summer Arts Mississauga, FibreArts Festival, Lakeshore Art Trail, and related workshops.

    • Coordinate event logistics, including venue setup, vendor coordination, and timeline management.

    • Serve as a key point of contact during events, ensuring smooth operations and addressing on-site issues.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Collaborate with volunteers, community members, and partners to ensure effective communication and foster long-term relationships.

    • Engage with diverse groups, including Indigenous communities, youth, donors, and local organizations, to support equitable participation in events.

  • Promotions & Outreach:

    • Assist in creating promotional materials and collaborate with the Marketing team to produce content for social media, newsletters, and partnerships.

    • Manage communications for event registration and participant follow-up to ensure high engagement levels.

  • Post-Event Evaluation & Reporting:

    • Collect participant feedback and compile event evaluations to identify strengths and areas for improvement.

    • Prepare post-event reports to measure impact and engage stakeholders.

  • Administrative Support:

    • Assist with budget tracking, timeline management, and other administrative tasks related to event planning.

    • Collaborate with staff, Board Members, and committees to ensure program goals are met.


Skills Development Opportunities

Through this role, the selected youth will:

  • Gain experience in program and event coordination, learning essential skills such as project management, logistics, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Strengthen communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities through direct interaction with community members, partners, and volunteers.

  • Build proficiency in budget tracking, volunteer coordination, and event planning software.

  • Develop creative and innovative strategies to enhance community outreach and engagement efforts.

Requirements

  • Interest or experience in event coordination, program delivery, or community engagement, particularly in the non-profit or cultural sectors.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets) and other productivity tools; willingness to learn new software as needed.

  • Passion for arts, heritage, environmental programming, or community development.

  • Experience in budget management or financial tracking is an asset.


Eligibility Criteria

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be aged between 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment.

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee with the legal right to work in Canada.

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Hours

35 hrs/week for 8 weeks from June 2, 2025 – July 28, 2025

Salary

$20/hour
