Position Summary

Creative Hub 1352 is looking for a talented Volunteer Content Writer to create compelling blog posts, newsletter design and content, social media content and web copy. We’re looking for someone who will help us drive more value through our online content and expand our digital footprint. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of producing pieces that increase engagement, drive leads and increase traffic to our website.

 

This position requires a high level of creativity, as well as the ability to use data-driven insights to write sticky content. The successful candidate should also be detail-oriented and committed to taking the lead in creating a valuable content library for Creative Hub 1352. Preference will be given to those with a strong writing portfolio, bachelor’s degree, and relevant work experience. Please note that this role will eventually evolve into a super-star team of content writers (Creative Hub writers group).

Responsibilities:

You will handle the ideation and creation of content that spans website copy, emails, social media, blog posts, etc. You will support the creation of:

  1. Content to support our events: Produce content to support our annual events. The successful candidate would be creating 4 to 5 pieces of content for each event that we would be organizing in the coming year. The content should be available at least 6 weeks before the event.

  2. Content to support our endeavors in the field of arts, heritage, environmental sciences, and technology. Content under this section could be specific to our projects and initiatives or could be generic and related to the latest developments in the fields of art, heritage, environmental sciences, and technology. The content should also highlight the local highlights in these fields to make it more interesting and relevant for our audience.

  3. Miscellaneous content related to our history, our mission and vision and how people can get involved. Produce educational and informational content regarding our organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or related field. (Students pursuing degrees or diploma in writing-related fields are encouraged to apply as well.)

  2. Knowledge of digital marketing tactics, including but not limited to SEO, email marketing, social media marketing, and web analytics.

  3. Excellent writing skills, as well as the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively.

  4. A keen eye for detail, specifically when it comes to copy-editing and proofreading.

  5. The candidate should have a portfolio of work showcasing your copy writing and content writing skills.

It is a space for innovation, visual arts, performing arts, community events, community gardens, environmental stewardship, community development and more. Creative Hub 1352 envisions the Small Arms Inspection Building (SAIB), a historically significant neighborhood landmark and the only purpose-build Small Arms Inspection Building in Canada, as a dynamic Creative Hub whose activities honor the past and provide a more robust sense of place and community identity for current and future generations.
