Temporary Full-time Position – 16 wks.

CreativeHub 1352 (formerly the Small Arms Society) is a non-profit organization, who works in partnership with the Mississauga community in the development of unique creative hub programs, events, and projects at the Small Arms Inspection Building (SAIB), Arsenal lands, and surrounding community. The building is a historically significant site, owned and operated by the City of Mississauga. As a community programming partner, we work across the arts, heritage, environment, and technology to deliver a mix of programs, projects, education, and events that foster collaboration and community engagement that enrich people's lives. CreativeHub 1352 offers an opportunity to work closely with artists, innovators, community, tourism, and regional cultural organizations that celebrate the artists in Mississauga and the GTA.

This is a unique opportunity to support the development of Mississauga’s new Creativehub 1352 that will impact, influence, and inspire artistic and cultural opportunities for local artists, arts organizations, and communities

Responsibilities: 

CreativeHub 1352 is seeking a dynamic individual with experience in digital content and visual content for blogs, websites, social media, and communications to support programming in the arts, heritage, and environmental sciences. The individual will assist the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and the Marketing Committee as well as play an active role in the development of a variety of marketing and communication strategies to support the CreativeHub 1352 organization’s programs, events, and outreach activities.

  1. Research and prepare written digital content for the website, social media, blogs, and other communication and publicity for the organization.

  2. Coordinate and maintain social media and content management systems including Hootsuite, Wix, WordPress, and Constant Contact.

  3. Assist the Board of Directors, Marketing Director, and Executive Director in the design and implementation of marketing and communication strategies for events, programs and projects in collaboration with volunteers, stakeholders, and the community.

  4. Provide support in the design, creation, and launch of the organizations’ monthly newsletter/blog posts.

  5. Assist with the design and implementation of marketing and fundraising campaigns for CreativeHub 1352.

  6. Pro-actively work with the content writers to support the creation of our virtual content library.

  7. Assist with the storage, filing, and management of visual content for archival and reference proposes.

  8. Research new online communication and digital technology to attract audiences.

Qualifications: 

  • Experience in publicity and communication planning and execution of various campaigns and initiatives.

  • Excellent writing and verbal/presentation skills with the ability to summarize information and connect for a variety of audiences

  • Recognized journalism and/or communications program a definite asset. 

  • Experience with software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva, designing digital marketing and communication content.

  • Knowledge of digital media tactics such as SEO and web analytics would be a strong asset.

  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Suite, and Google Drive enhanced

  • Experience developing and coordinating content for different social media platforms.

  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, administration, problem-solving, and planning skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work both in a team environment as well as independently.

  • Creative self-starter; proven initiative and ability to work collaboratively.

  • Strong organizational and program planning skills with the ability to meet deadline

Working Conditions 

  • Ability to work pro-actively with a non-profit board of directors and committees. Ability to work independently from home based on the organization's Work from Home Policy. Some evening and weekend work to support the programs of the organization may be required.

  • Location Mississauga. 

Direct Reporting 

  • Supervision, support, and mentorship from the Executive Director and Board Marketing Director

 

Position Hours

  • 35 hours/week, $18.00/hour. Temporary Full-time assignment for 16 weeks. Some evening and weekend hours maybe be required.
