Six students from Sheridan’s Visual Merchandising Arts program are showcasing their creativity at the Mississauga Festival of Trees this December with a unique installation.

The Mississauga Festival of Trees, presented by CreativeHub 1352, takes place from December 9-19th at the historic Small Arms Inspection Building. During the media preview night of the inaugural Festival of Trees, I spoke with Paul Michel, Chair of the Creative Hub 1352; he had this to say about the exciting festival:

How would you describe the Festival of Trees?
It's an installation of Christmas trees created by artists, along with an artisan market.

Open to artists’ interpretations, the tree and woodpile installations at the festival will celebrate the winter season and cultural diversity of Mississauga. Artists, postsecondary students, and community groups have come together to present these installations throughout the duration of the festival.

Holiday markets are a popular December tradition that celebrates the season with spirit-warming flavours, sounds and colours. Whether you’re wandering an enchanting winter village’s craft-stocked aisles, being greeted by carollers’ serenades, or shopping for that one-of-a-kind gift, these festive gathering places are guaranteed to get everyone in the holiday spirit. Plus, jolly old Saint Nick might even make an appearance. Here are some markets within an hour’s drive from downtown Toronto.
