The Role:
As a Volunteer Captain, you are the essential link between our volunteer team and market operations. You'll ensure every shift runs smoothly by welcoming volunteers, coordinating assignments, and serving as the go-to resource for questions and support.
Key Responsibilities:
Open or transition shifts by checking in with the Market Manager, reviewing the Volunteer Captain clipboard, and preparing for incoming volunteers.
Serve as a resource for volunteers, vendors, and attendees—answering questions, directing people to appropriate staff, and consulting the Market Binder or team members when needed.
Coordinate operations by liaising with the Market Manager, rotating Market Attendants and Bike Valets through assignments, and ensuring all checklist tasks are completed.
Adapt to conditions by communicating with the Market Manager during inclement weather to arrange accommodations for outdoor volunteers.
Manage shift transitions by briefing incoming Captains on arrivals, departures, accommodations, and any outstanding issues.
Close out shifts by checking out volunteers, collecting lanyards, completing the Volunteer Captain log, and returning materials to the correct bins.

CreativeHub 1352 is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing creative people together to strengthen arts, culture, and community in Mississauga. Through collaborations with local partners, we offer a diverse range of year-round programs in the arts, heritage, and environmental stewardship and education, engaging people from across the city and beyond.
Our journey began with the Lakeview Legacy Community Foundation, later known as the Small Arms Society, which led the successful effort in 2008 to save the historic Small Arms Inspection Building (SAIB) from demolition. Since 2018, CreativeHub 1352 has worked with the City of Mississauga to transform this landmark into a vibrant community hub. As the building’s lead tenant and key partner, we continue to expand our programming days each year, bringing our creative vision to life in this unique and historic space.
