Acrylic Painting: Mixed Media

Inspired by the folk arts, this acrylic painting on canvas involves the techniques of abstract art alongside stenciling and reverse stenciling. The workshop begins with creating an abstract background in acrylic using various application techniques. Participants will learn the use of stencils to create layered designs and also reverse stenciling, a reductive painting method, to bring out interest in the artwork. For the final layers participants create markings on the tree and the birds using repeated patterns as seen in several folk arts.

All materials are included in the cost of the workshop.
