About the event
Join artist Lisa Jayne Irvine as she leads participants on a discussion on the theme of nurturing an artist's practice within the constraints of our bustling world and empowering individuals to embrace their identity as artists.
I am thrilled to present my panel discussion on the theme of nurturing an artist's practice within the constraints of our bustling world and empowering individuals to embrace their identity as artists. In this overview, I will outline the key components of my talk:
Introduction: I will kickstart the discussion with a brief overview of my personal journey, from my formative years as an art student to my current roles as an art educator and a practicing artist while maintaining other commitments.
Debunking Myths : I aim to challenge preconceived notions regarding professional artists versus hobbyists. By emphasizing that an artist is anyone who engages in the act of creation, I will shift the focus from fame and recognition to the significance of artistic practice and process.
The Artist's Studio: Exploring the concept of an artist's studio, regardless of its size, I will delve into what truly defines a studio as opposed to the idealized notion of one.
Igniting Your Passion: I will discuss the importance of finding sources of inspiration and maintaining one's artistic practice. This segment will emphasize the creative process, experimentation, and the elusive concept of artistic style.
Finding Time in a Busy Life: Addressing the challenges of integrating art practice into a hectic schedule, I will share insights into my own journey and offer practical strategies for maintaining a consistent practice, even when life gets chaotic.
Connecting to Community: I will conclude by exploring various avenues for individuals to engage with artistic communities, fostering connections and mutual support.
