About the event
Workshop Description: Are you ‘art terrified’ or haven’t drawn anything beyond stick figures since you were a kid? This course is all about having fun and reawakening your innate ability to draw. For complete beginners to those who want a refresh, you will be encouraged to take risks and to let the artist inside you grow through exploring different ways of seeing and making marks. Explore the creativity that flows from the right side of the brain. With simple exercises designed to reframe and reduce the dominance of your ‘left side’, students will begin to develop their drawing and creative skills and become confident with the tools of visual expression.
Age Range: Adult
Instructor Bio: Sarah Gorlitz an artist and teacher with experience leading workshops for students from a variety of backgrounds (from MFA students to seniors taking their first art class (Avenue Road School for the Arts), 4-10 year olds in my daughters’ etobicoke school to YYZLAB participants (new Canadians and emerging artists from Toronto suburbs). In addition to my collaborative practice as "Soft Turns”, my drawing and painting practice engages with the ways that looking is a bodily perception, grounded in sensation
