About the event
Meditation is often understood as a serious practice, done alone, sitting still. This workshop introduces participants to a different approach. We will begin with an introduction to breath, and meditative breathing techniques. From there, we will explore the intersection of dance and meditation through solo, partner, and group exercises.
For adults. No previous experience in dance or meditation is necessary. Accessible to any/all physical movement abilities. For example, adults with injuries or those who use a chair can still participate.
Age Range: Adult, young adult and 14+
Instructor: Kari Pederson
Kari Pederson is an award-winning performance creator, academic, and educator. She has over 20 years' experience on stage working in contemporary dance, devised theatre, and interdisciplinary performance. Kari teaches acting and dance at multiple universities, and has recently begun working as a movement director for film. She’s also a certified Kundalini Yoga and Meditation instructor.
