About the event
Working with the Old Master’s method of silver-point drawing, this workshop explores a brief history of the medium, techniques for drawing from life and from a photograph. Participants will be create one still life drawing, one observational drawing from a photograph and one portrait drawing from a live clothed model. Participants will learn proper methods of preparing a substrate, practice drawing from geometric still life, draw from a photograph, and learn key landmarks for portrait drawing to come out of the workshop with three silverpoint drawings.
Session 1: Prepping our substrate (silver point ground, learn to tint ground, sand), brief
history/examples of silverpoint, and still-life drawing
Session 2: Drawing from your own photograph and including ink for highlights
Session 3: Brief overview of anatomy with key landmarks of the face. Life drawing with
a clothed model.
