About the event

Join us for an informative talk and movement workshop led by artist and arts educator Shivani Joshi. In this workshop, participants will learn about the history of Garba, its roots and influences, as well as being led through stylized movements inspired by Garba.

Garba is an Indian Folk dance that symbolizes the circle of life and is rooted in a celebration of the divine feminine. This workshop explores the origins and evolution of folk dancing, as it adapts to the needs of the community, from village life, to the celebratory dances of Navratri, the Festival of Nine Nights.

Participants will be guided through the claps, snaps, hops, skips and twirls of Garba. Dandiya sticks will also be provided for use in this workshop, generously supplied by our facilitator.

Please Note: This workshop is for all ages and all levels, no dance experience is required. Children under the age of 14 must…
